Zebra-Tech is currently engaged in the development and manufacture of fine scale field data logging systems that record high resolution spatial and temporal catch data for the New Zealand Paua (Abalone) and Crayfish (Spiny Lobster) Fisheries.

The purpose of the equipment is to provide high resolution data of the spatial stock abundance and catch effort, and so assist with the sustainable management of the fisheries.

The Boat Logger is a water-proof rugged self contained deck unit designed to be operated in small boats. It features a GPS, keypad, various data input buttons, Lithium Ion battery pack, and a high visibility dispaly. 

For the New Zealanbd Paua Industry, the Boat Logger records the boat track, time and position of the catch, and various other data such as swell conditions and water visibility.

The Diver Logger was developed for the New Zealand Paua (Abalone) Industry. It is a compact data logger that is mounted on the back of divers. It starts recording automatically when the diver enters the water. On the surface, the Diver Logger records the position and during a dive, it records the dive depth and temperature profile.

The Diver Logger is fully self contained. It features a high sensitivity GPS system to obtain rapid surface position data in high swell and poor coverage areas, and during only brief surface intervals.

The Diver Logger is extremely simple to operate; data download and charging are achieved without having to open the housing in any way.
